While the Proteas are favourites they may be without star player Vernon Philander
On January 15th South Africa and New Zealand meet in their next cricket Test match and the Proteas are looking good for a convincing win. Bookies have given South Africa odds of 1/5 while New Zealand looks to be a complete outsider with odds of 16/1.
South Africa may be without Vernon Philander due to a hamstring industry however, this is unlikely to affect the team’s chances of winning. Philander was man of the Match in the first test due to his haul of 7/83 with five of the wickets taken for only seven runs in the first innings.
South Africa team manager Mohammed Moosafee said that Philander had “seven to 10 days to recover from the problem the first time, and that’s what we will have to do again. He’s 50/50 at this stage. We’ll know more early this week.”
However, Rory Kleinveldt is ready to take his place and showed that he is an impressive player in the match against Australia last November where he was responsible for the fall of Ed Cowan, David Warner and Rob Quiney.
