A field of 155 was reduced to 15 for the exciting end to the Montecasino Poker Champs as players competed for a top prize of R500,000
Recently the thrilling conclusion of the third annual Montecasino Poker Championships took place. Over 155 players from right across South Africa and abroad took part and after two days of exciting poker action there were only 15 left.
At the end of a hard day’s play Clinton Aube from Horizon View in Roodepoort, Johannesburg won the title and took home R500,000 cash.
According to Adam MacIntyre, the Montecasino Table Manager it “was certainly the most successful Montecasino Poker Champs tournament yet” judging by entry numbers. He said that 45 of the players had won seats at the tournament through satellite tournaments which took place at the Montecasino Poker Lounge during the months of January, February and March.
MacIntyre went on to point out that for anyone who is interested in poker the Montecasino Poker Challenge is coming up later in the year and any “aspiring amateur poker players have as good a chance as any of taking the top spot.” According to MacIntyre a number of entries into the Montecasino Poker Champs were amateur and not professional players.
