Interlot Brings Online Sports Betting to South Africa

Since being granted a license, Interlot has announced plans to launch online, mobile and telephone betting services in South Africa

The bookmakers Intralot is preparing to launch online, mobile and fixed telephone sports betting services for the South African market. The move comes after its local subsidiary, Intralot South Africa, was given a betting licence for the Western Cape.

The new sports betting services provided by Intralot will be open to all South Africans. Intralot have said that they will be offering odds on the four most popular sports in South Africa; football, rugby, cricket and golf. They have also said that they plan to expand and include Horse Racing in the near future.

As well as the internet, mobile and telephone services, Intralot have said that Western Cape's 5.4 million residents will be able to enjoy land based facilities as well. These facilities are due to open in Cape Town and other popular centres in the near future.



The Managing Director Africa Sub Sahara Region of Intralot, Dr. Yannis Rondiris, has said that Intralot is “very pleased to take a step forward and launch fixed odds sports betting in South Africa, both land-based and interactive.” Dr. Rondiris believes that the project’s success is guaranteed thanks to Interlot’s “know how and worldwide expertise in sports betting...we are sure that players will embrace the new game with great enthusiasm.”
