Betfair Customers Frustrated by Slow Payouts

An online player has been waiting over 2 years to get his hands on a $3.1 million payout from Betfair

The leading UK betting exchange, Betfair, has been the subject of fierce criticism from angry players unable to get hold of their winnings. The organisation, which represents one of the biggest names in the industry, has been accused of withholding payments from customers despite several complaints from consumers across the world. The most scandalous of such incidents involves the story of one punter who has been waiting more than 24 months to get his hands on a $3.1 million payout. The latest report from Sports Book Review suggests that the Russian professional in question has received a total of only $600,000 over a period of six months – an amount which falls drastically short of the six figure total owed.

Commenting on the situation, the payment processor used by Betfair said that the delay was a result of unavoidable restrictions imposed on large transactions. Current legislation currently limits pay out instalments to $20, 000 US per week. “We have been paying $10 - $20 000 weekly via bank wire”, read a statement from the firm. It went on to say that the company would be “trying to transfer larger increments” in the near future.

Meanwhile further reports imply that the unnamed payment processor has been repeatedly contacted about the possibility of alternative payment methods. Gamers are particularly concerned to discover why the $20,000 limit has result in payments of just $10. Others have voiced frustration with the frequency of unnecessary delays imposed by operators more generally. The gaming community will no doubt be monitoring the activities of Betfair very closely in the forthcoming weeks.
