Arnold Schwarzenegger will return to Hollywood

Ex-governor of California plans a comeback to the big screen and will participate in a Western movie

Studio Lionsgate announced that the 63 y/o actor would "bring incredible magnetism" to the role of a small town sheriff who fights a local drug baron in its future film ‘The Last Stand’. The film will be Schwarzenegger's first significant appearance since the release of ‘Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines’ in 2003. The ex-politician, who finished his term in January, had a brief role in ‘The Expendables’ released last year.

Joe Drake, the president of Lionsgate said that Schwarzenegger "electrified the audience" in ‘The Expendables’, where he acted together with his old days ‘brother-in-arms’ Sly Stallone. He added: “In this film, the Sheriff Owens character grapples with some really tough stuff but ultimately triumphs and we knew he'd truly elevate this high-octane ride”. The release date of the film has not been set yet.

In the beginning of this month Schwarzenegger's wife in the last 25 years, Maria Shriver, filed for divorce, based on ‘irreconcilable differences’. They have been separated since May this year, following Arnold’s confession of having a son out of marriage. Back then he stated that he would postpone all his future movie projects and would be "focusing on personal matters".

Among the mentioned projects were the thriller ‘Cry Macho’, the ‘Terminator’ franchise and "other projects under consideration" as stated by actor’s office. Another delayed project was production of cartoon TV series The Governator, where Schwarzenegger would appear as a family man living a double life as a superhero, just like in his classic film ‘True Lies’.
